|About Our Dog & Puppy Training Classes
SOABDC offers the following dog training classes in Scioto County and must have minimum 5
attendees to justify hosting the class (click links provided for more detailed info on those particular programs):
* Beginner Rally/Obedience (From informal to competition readiness with AKC Canine Good
Citizen & therapy dog certification preparation parts). Ideal for dogs of any training level.
* AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy (for all puppies under 1 yr old) This class not only encourages socialization with
other puppies which is crucial for young dogs, but also covers potential problem areas
such as crate training, bite inhibition, 'leave it', curbing barking, & more. It's geared to help encourage
responsible puppy ownership & beginning training/socializing for your puppy.
* AKC/UKC Rally- The fun bridge between the CGC & formal Obedience-a course is set up with
various obedience exercises pictured on signs for handlers to perform. It's lots of fun!
* Conformation *(varying degrees depending on the requests made)-Goes through everything from
turns, showing bite, & stacking to proper equipment & handler dressing the part for a successful
presentation to show your pure-bred dog. * - Offered on request of 5+ attendees.
* Agility*-Got a dog who's got their basic OB down & has lots of energy to burn? Consider this
exciting faster-paced class to teach your dog to go through tunnels, jump hurdles, weave poles, pause
table, a-frame, and plenty more! * -Offered upon request of 5+attendees.
Our classes typically run 50-55 minutes in length and are planned for one session/week for 6-8 weeks.
We offer a set of spring training classes (starts in April), and a fall set of training classes
(starting in Sept). We check the shot records at Registration Night for ALL class
participants-please bring them with you to Registration Night!
<--- Our Spring 2019 Dog Training Classes is posted here.
Our training is held at the Glendale Senior Center (old schoolhouse-around back) at
200 Glendale Road, Lucasville, OH 45648. We train outdoors around behind the school
building where we have a shelter house and lots of clean, well kept level ground.
People who wish to take our training classes but don't wish to join our club are welcomed to do so. Our
classes are $45.00 for 7 weeks worth of weekly classes for non-SOABDC members, expected paid at
Orientation. This is significantly more affordable than most local dog trainers!
And remember, when you join SOABDC, dog training classes offered are FREE
as long as you keep up your membership status. Memberships renew in Jan of the year.
Our instructors are not only experienced in the field in which they instruct, but they are also very
friendly & helpful. Under most circumstances, our trainers have titled dogs in their area of expertise,
or have done extensive enough work to be quite knowledgeable to teach class. Unlike most trainers in
our area, our trainers do active competition, title dogs, and/or actively work with dogs in the
community. They use proven dog-friendly methods that are yielding promising results!
